Five advantages of pre-compliance EMC testing

2015-04-24T16:27:12+00:00

You have built a great product that meets market demands. You are confident that it radiates little energy and is not susceptible to outside interference, yet when you reach final EMC testing stage, your product fails. This is the nightmare scenario for most of us product designers. The cost of testing was already high, but re-testing will stretch the planned budget and slow down the entire project. The misplaced confidence that has led to a failed compliance test, means that design engineers need to find out why the product failed and how to fix it. To avoid this scenario, pre-compliance testing should not be considered as an add-on to the end of a project. Instead pre-compliance EMC testing should be built into a project from day one. In the [...]

CE marking – 20 things you need to know

2018-10-09T10:14:37+00:00

Placed on several categories of products, CE marking is mandatory for machinery, electrical and electronic equipment, medical devices, personal protective equipment and toys. So if you are looking to sell an electronics product in the EU, you will need to affix a CE mark. Here’s a quick round up of interesting facts about CE marking: CE marking is a self-declaration where a manufacturer proves compliance with EU health, safety and environmental protection legislation and confirms a product's compliance with relevant requirements CE is Conformité Européenne (French) which means European conformity With a CE mark, your product can be sold in the EU and in some other countries, including Turkey CE directives affect manufacturers, importers and distributors/retailers, though a manufacturer is responsible for acquiring the CE mark There are six steps to [...]

EMC Testing Services Now at ByteSnap

2017-11-10T08:17:18+00:00

Compliance testing can be a sting in the tail of a project. Selling products within the European Union requires a CE mark, whilst other territories have their own strict protocols. EMC testing services don't come cheap as the companies need to recoup the large investment they have made in capital equipment, as well as the time of the testers. What's more, many of the testing engineers are discouraged from giving advice on how to fix problems, as it can conflict with their role as testers. When quotes are given by test houses, they usually assume that the device will pass first time. In reality this is often not the case and it is down to the skill and knowledge of the design engineer to fix the problems. Whilst he is [...]
