ByteSnap's 2023 Review
We hope you’ve had a great Christmas and wonderful festive break!
It’s been another busy year of innovation and growth at ByteSnap.
Thank you to all of our customers, suppliers, partners and community of subscribers and followers for being with us each step of the way.
With the new year beckoning, here’s a whistle-stop tour of a few of ByteSnap’s 2023’s highlights.
Spring
We kicked off the year by marking 15 years of successful embedded systems design.
ByteSnap was founded on January 15th 2008 by Directors Graeme Wintle and Dunstan Power at Longbridge Technology Park, on the site of the former Rover car plant in South Birmingham.
To celebrate, the whole company went to Manchester for two days of team-building – including the Crystal Maze experience, a Comedy Club and a Zombie Uprising (all thoroughly recommended!).
It was a brilliant time of bonding and re-charging, before returning back to base to roll up our sleeves and buckle down for an industrious year ahead…
Scrutinising the best in innovation
ByteSnap Director Dunstan Power joined a panel of industry thought leaders and experts to judge entries for Electronic Specifier’s Electronic Excellence Awards.
The event was held in April at Embedded World in Germany – the biggest embedded systems trade exhibition globally.
Recruitment drive and video shoot
A production crew visited our offices in May to shoot a video for ByteSnap’s recruitment drive. The campaign was prompted by increased demand for Linux firmware and application development projects and EV charging system design.
Summer
In June, we exhibited at the Design Engineering Expo at the Birmingham NEC, alongside our spin-out EV charger design company Versinetic.
Here, we showcased ByteSnap’s electronics and software product development expertise including redesign, technical feasibility studies, Linux, and ATEX design.
Business Development Manager Robert Meeks was on the road again in July, together with Dunstan for the one-day Hardware Pioneers Max exhibition in Islington, London.
Autumn
To help inspire budding engineers of the future, we ran a Back-to-School competition on social media in September and donated £500 worth of STEM equipment to the winner’s chosen school.
Here is a picture of the pupils of St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School enjoying some of their prizes.
Some of the ByteSnap team also took on the Wolf Run in September!
Returning to the UK’s biggest trade event for electronics design
Britain’s electronic design trade show scene is dominated by EDS in October; it’s the UK’s biggest show for engineering, electronics and embedded design. Naturally, the ByteSnap team was there in full force!
We showcased our latest access management development project: a wireless lock controller with real-time monitoring integrated into an industry-leading electronic lockset.
In addition, Dunstan delivered a conference session to a packed theatre on how to take your product idea from doodle to design success.
He and Graeme also found time for a quick interview with leading industry magazine Electronic Specifier at the show…
End of the year...
In December we held our annual 1 Million Seconds to Christmas event for our Yuletide charities Breast Cancer Now and Crisis.
We also held a charity prize draw on LinkedIn to help raise money for Crisis – and the winner, Jordan, clinched a fabulous retro Nintendo NES Lego set!
We would like to thank our customers, partners and followers for your continued support and we forward to our continued mutual success across 2024 and beyond.
